Lord Justice Clerk to deliver SYLA Annual Lecture

30th September 2016

Lady Dorrian, the Lord Justice Clerk, is to deliver the Scottish Young Lawyers' Association's Annual Lecture for 2016, with proceeds going to the Law Society of Scotland's new charity to support aspiring lawyers of limited means.

The lecture, in association with Scott & Co, will be delivered on Thursday 27 October in the Hilton Grosvenor, Edinburgh, at 7pm, with registration, drinks and canapes from 6pm. Lady Dorrian's topic is the 21st century court. The lecture will be followed by Q&A and networking to close and may count for one hour's CPD.

Tickets are free of charge, but a suggested donation of £5 per person is requested with all donations going to the LawScot Foundation. The Foundation aims to help academically talented students from less advantaged backgrounds in Scotland through their legal education journey, both at undergraduate and diploma level.

Lady Dorrian, who was appointed to her present position in April this year after serving as a judge of the Supreme Courts since 2005, is also a keynote speaker at the "Leading Legal Excellence" conference of the Law Society of Scotland being held today.
