Lorna Jack confirmed as Highlands & Islands Airports chair

31st January 2019 | careers , law society of scotland

Lorna Jack, chief executive of the Law Society of Scotland, has been confirmed as chair of the board of Highlands & Islands Airports Limited (HIAL).

Ms Jack, who will continue in her role at the Society, has been serving as interim chair of HIAL. Her new appointment, by the Cabinet Secretary for Transport, Infrastructure and Connectivity, Michael Matheson, is for three years from 1 February 2019 to 31 January 2022. She will receive £310 per day for a time commitment of six days per month.

She joined the HIAL board as a non-executive director in March 2014 and chaired its audit committee for more than three years, until taking on the interim chair role in October 2017. She is also an independent member of the court of the University of Aberdeen, and a trustee and treasurer of the McConnell International Foundation.

Offering congratulations, Mr Matheson said: "She has performed admirably in the role on an interim basis, helping HIAL continue to deliver for the communities that rely on these vital air links. I look forward to continuing to work with her."
