MacRoberts appoints family law duo

5th September 2017 | careers

MacRoberts has added to its family law team with the appointment of Marika Franceschi as a partner – a move described by the commercial law firm as the first step in a three year strategic plan to grow its private client and family law teams across Scotland.

Ms Franceschi, who joins from Shoosmiths, brings extensive expertise advising on complex ante-nuptial contracts and high value claims for financial provision on divorce. She also deals with a wide range of issues including child residence and contact disputes, child relocation and child abduction petitions. A trained collaborative lawyer, she is an accredited specialist in family law. She is also a legal adviser to the Italian Consulate General and regularly assists Italian clients with legal and business related queries in both Italy and Scotland.

Moving with her is senior associate Karen Nicol, who has particular expertise in permanence orders and adoption, both for local authorities and private individuals.

John Macmillan, managing partner at MacRoberts, commented: “The Scottish legal landscape has been a moving feast since 2008. We have seen increasing levels of consolidation and new entrants to the market from south of the border. As a truly independent Scottish firm, we are excited about the opportunities this affords us, particularly in the area of family and private client. Marika’s appointment simply demonstrates our commitment to providing top quality legal services across Scotland.”
