MacRoberts recruits three to regulatory compliance team

25th February 2015 | careers

Law firm MacRoberts has hired a three-strong team from DAC Beachcroft to boost its regulatory expertise.

Partner John McGovern, a former president of the Glasgow Bar Association, is joined by associate James McMillan and solicitor David Magee in MacRoberts' intellectual property, technology & commercial (IPTC) practice group. Operating Scotland-wide from the Glasgow office, they bring additional skills to MacRoberts’ regulatory compliance expertise.

A solicitor advocate, Mr McGovern has been practising criminal and regulatory defence work for over 25 years. He is also a part time tutor in advanced criminal law at the University of Glasgow.

He commented: "MacRoberts is a firm for which I have great admiration and I am delighted to have this opportunity to join them with my team to provide specialist services to their existing clients and to expand their practice in this area."

Earlier this month MacRoberts recruited four partners from DWF, in construction, real estate and projects.

Managing partner James Macmillan said: "This is further evidence of our expansion plans. Our aim is always to bring in high-calibre staff to be able to enhance the quality offering available to our clients."
