Memorial service to be held for Professor Joe Thomson
A memorial service for Professor Joe Thomson is to be held in Edinburgh next month.
Professor Thomson, who died in May this year, was a Scottish Law Commissioner, Regius Professor of Law at the University of Glasgow, and before that Head of the Law School at Strathclyde University. He was regarded as one of the great educators of the late 20th and early 21st centuries, with an infectious enthusiasm for the law that touched everyone that he taught. He also gave freely of his time and experience to mentor and encourage junior colleagues. His many contributions to legal literature will continue to inform how law is taught in Scottish universities.
His widow Annie extends a welcome to all who wish to attend the memorial service, which will take place in the Canongate Kirk, 153 Canongate, Edinburgh, on Saturday 13 October at 11am.
