Millar & Bryce name student conveyancing prizewinners
Property search company Millar & Bryce has named two law graduates as winners of this year's Conveyancing Student Scotland award.
Matthew Edwards from Aberdeen and Carys Magee from Greenock, both aged 22, received the accolade for their continued efforts and contribution in their Diploma in Professional Legal Practice.
Mr Edwards studied at the University of Aberdeen and is about to embark on a two year traineeship with Burness Paull; Ms Magee completed her studies at the University of Dundee and has since begun a traineeship at Your Conveyancer Ltd.
Both students were awarded a £250 cheque and are invited to this year’s Modern Conveyancing Conference, where industry experts will discuss challenges affecting the conveyancing market.
Debbie Welch, sales and marketing director of Millar & Bryce commented: "The Conveyancing Student Scotland award showcases the hard work and dedication coming from these students. There has been rising confidence in the Scottish legal market and a lot of this is to do with the high standards attained by universities and their students.
"We are extremely proud to continue supporting this annual accolade and wish Matthew and Carys the very best of luck as they begin their next step into forging a professional career."
Both winners said they were delighted to be recognised. Mr Edwards affirmed: "After such a long period of study, it will be good to now have the opportunity to put the theory and skills that I have learnt and developed throughout my academic career to good use and I’m looking forward to starting my traineeship later this year."
Ms Magee added: "I found the conveyancing part of my course the most interesting and I’m grateful to be working with a company that specialises in this. My diploma gave me a lot of practical experience which has made me feel at ease in my traineeship so far, but I’ve already learnt so much."
