Ministers consult on guidance on new common good provisions
Proposed guidance to local authorities on their new duties relating to common good property has been published for consultation by Scottish ministers.
Part 8 of the Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act 2015 enacts new duties on authorities to create registers of common good property and involve communities in this process. They will also be required to consult communities when there are proposals to change the use of or dispose of common good property.
Statutory guidance will cover issues such as timescales, information about assets, local consultation – including identifying the community bodies to be consulted – and publicising proposals.
