MSPs pass circus wild animal ban bill
A law to ban the use of wild animals in travelling circuses was passed by the Scottish Parliament yesterday.
MSPs unanimously backed the new law, which Environment Secretary Roseanna Cunningham describerd as a "preventative measure on ethical grounds", given that such circuses rarely visit Scotland now.
Eighteen other European countries already have such a ban, to prevent the animals being subjected to ill treatment during transportation and training as well as by being confined.
