New solicitors welcomed to the profession

18th June 2018 | law society of scotland

106 new solicitors were welcomed to the profession at the Law Society of Scotland’s latest Admission Ceremonies, which took place on Friday 15 June 2018 at the Signet Library in Edinburgh.

The ceremonies, which are held four times per year, mark the culmination of years of hard work and the beginning of exciting careers in law.

Alison Atack, president of the Law Society presented the newly admitted with their certificates during the course of two admission ceremonies on Friday.

Alison said, “This was my first admission ceremony as President and it really was an honour to be part of such a special occasion. I am delighted to celebrate the achievements of Scotland’s newest solicitors, welcome them in to the profession and wish them long, successful and fulfilling careers.”

Rosalind McInnes, Principal solicitor for BBC Scotland addressed the morning ceremony and Judge Shona Simon, President of Employment Tribunals, Scotland, was the guest speaker at the afternoon admissions.

Lorna Jack, Chief Executive of the Law Society of Scotland also gave an address and spoke about the services the Law Society offers for new lawyers and the many ways they can get involved with the work of the Society.

Speaking at the event, Ms Jack said: “It is truly a fantastic achievement to have reached this moment and you should feel justifiably proud of your tremendous efforts and dedication. In whatever direction your career takes you, I am sure that your journeys will be interesting, fulfilling and rewarding.”
