Next Sheriff Principal of Glasgow & Strathkelvin confirmed
Sheriff Craig Turnbull has been appointed Sheriff Principal of the Sheriffdom of Glasgow & Strathkelvin, with effect from 1 September 2016.
Currently a sheriff of North Strathclyde, sitting mainly at Greenock and Dumbarton Sheriff Courts, Sheriff Turnbull studied at the University of Strathclyde and was admitted as a solicitor in 1988. In 1993 he joined MacRoberts, where he became a partner in 1997 and managing partner from 2011-2014, specialising in commercial and construction disputes and health and safety and environmental prosecutions.
His new appointment, by the Queen, follows a recommendation by First Minister Nicola Sturgeon on the basis of a report by the Judicial Appointments Board for Scotland.
He succeeds Sheriff Principal Craig Scott, who is retiring.
