Partner hire and promotion at HBJ Gateley

26th July 2016 | careers

Two former trainees at legal firm HBJ Gateley have been appointed partners at the firm, one by internal promotion and one by lateral hire.

Lynsey Walker, a qualified solicitor advocate who has spent her career at the firm, becomes a partner in the dispute resolution team in Edinburgh, while Sarah Baillie, an accredited planning law specialist, has joined the firm as planning partner in the real estate team in Glasgow. Beginning her career at HBJ Gateley, she latterly worked at Anderson Strathern.

Ms Walker, who became the youngest solicitor advocate in Scotland when she qualified in 2013, has particular expertise in banking, contractual, property and insolvency related disputes. Ms Baillie has a wealth of experience in advising on projects including the Borders Railway and the London 2012 Olympic Park, and is qualified as a chartered town planner in addition to her specialist planning law accreditation.

Malcolm McPherson, senior partner at HBJ Gateley, commented: “The breadth of Sarah and Lynsey’s expertise is a huge asset to the firm. We are pleased to be able to promote a former trainee and welcome another one back, which demonstrates the opportunities that HBJ Gateley can provide to those progressing their legal careers."
