Patterson to take on Scottish Arbitration Centre role

The Scottish Arbitration Centre has appointed solicitor advocate Lindy Patterson QC to chair the Domestic Subcommittee of its independent Arbitral Appointments Committee. She replaces James Wolffe QC, who now serves as Lord Advocate.

Operating since December 2014, the Centre’s arbitral appointments service is engaged when parties specify that the Centre is to appoint an arbitrator to deal with their dispute. Acting independently from the Centre, the committee uses its knowledge of the sector to appoint an appropriate candidate from the leading domestic (Scottish) and international arbitrators. Ms Patterson recently left CMS Cameron McKenna, where she was a partner, and is now a door tenant at 39 Essex Chambers in London, acting as an independent arbitrator, adjudicator and dispute board member in the construction and engineering, energy and PPP industries. Qualified in English and Scots law, she has higher rights (civil) in both jurisdictions. She is a member of the London Court of International Arbitration, is President-Elect of the Dispute Resolution Board Federation (DRBF) Region 2 and teaches on the International Arbitration Masters Course at the University of Edinburgh.

Juliet Blanch will continue to chair the International Subcommittee.
