QC honoured by RIAS for historic buildings work

Scottish silk John Campbell QC has been made an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland (RIAS).

Mr Campbell has been recognised for the work he has done for architects, and with a number of restoration bodies, most notably the Scottish Historic Buildings Trust. In his practice he has particular interests in town and country planning and environmental law, energy issues and land law.

Responding to the award he commented: “I am very honoured to have been appointed to an Honorary Fellowship by the RIAS. Lawyers who work in planning should always try hard to recognise the best of building design, and to celebrate the achievements of the many talented Scottish architects now in practice.

“My dark secret is that I always wanted to be an architect, but I couldn’t draw very well! Now, I hope I can pay back some of what architecture and architects have given me over the years.”
