Registers opens short-run survey on 2012 Act awareness

Are you ready for the 8 December operative date for the Land Registration (Scotland) Act 2012? Registers of Scotland has opened an online survey to test user awareness of and preparations for the Act. 

The study takes the form of a short survey to support the national communications campaign leading up to the designated day. Live from today (8 October), the confidential survey will run until 14 October 2014. It can be found by clicking here. 

The Act makes important changes to land registration practice, affecting all types of property sale and transfer of title. Everyone who will be affected by the change is invited to participate.

RoS has also been gathering feedback during its nationwide training and information roadshows on the 2012 Act, which are visiting various locations across the country until the end of November to help businesses, organisations and advisers involved in land and property prepare for the new regime.

Solicitor Scott Brymer of Brymer Legal Ltd, who attended the recent sellout Edinburgh roadshow, said: “The 2012 Act represents a seismic shift in the way in which the practice of conveyancing will be done in Scotland. Scottish conveyancers will have a statute which is completely fit for purpose."

About the roadshow he added: “The event was well attended and the speakers were well informed, knowledgeable and very engaging. I came away from the event with a lot to think about and a greater knowledge of how the new system will function. In particular, seeing a mockup of the new e-system was very useful. I look forward to learning more and hope to embrace the new e-system when it launches for the benefit of our business and that of our clients.”
