Renewables specialist to join Brodies

14th January 2015 | careers

Brodies, Scotland's largest legal firm, is adding to its renewables and land & rural business teams with the hire of Kirsty Macpherson from Gillespie Macandrew.

A specialist in onshore renewables and the commercial aspects of rural property, Ms Macpherson led the energy, climate change & natural resources group at Gillespie Macandrew. She has advised on a large number of complex wind and hydroelectric projects for developers and landowners, and has particular expertise in crofting – regularly talking at conferences on the subject in connection with renewables. She also deals with investment purchases and the sale and purchase of brownfield and greenfield land for residential and mixed-used developments.

Due to join Brodies by the spring, she will be based at the firm’s Edinburgh office.

Bill Drummond, managing partner of Brodies, said: “We are very pleased that a lawyer of Kirsty’s calibre is joining us, given her formidable track record and its relevance for the future of Scotland's energy economy and our highly important rural economy. There is no doubt her skills will be in great demand among our developer and landowner clients.”
