Researcher seeks lawyers' experiences of secondary trauma
A researcher collecting data on secondary trauma among legal professionals is inviting Scottish lawyers, among others, to describe their experience via a short online survey.
US-based Dawn D'Amico is carrying out a study covering the United States, Canada, the UK, Australia and New Zealand. This includes the effects both physical and psychological of secondary trauma, and individual coping efforts.
The survey, which is anonymous, asks for a description of the situation in which the trauma arose, how long the symptoms lasted, its physical and emotional effects, and what if anything the individual did to cope. The average completion time is said to be less than 10 minutes.

The outcome will be presented in a book which will also provide legal professionals with healthy coping skills and resources.
