Rumours surface of MacRoberts-Morton Fraser merger plans

Scottish law firms MacRoberts and Morton Fraser have declined to comment on a report that they are in "late stage" merger talks.

The Lawyer today claimed that the two practices are considering a tie-up that would result in a firm with a turnover of £38m, the sixth largest in Scotland by revenue, with each contributing rougly half.

Both firms issued statements that they regularly had conversations with other parties and it would be inappropriate to comment further or comment on speculation.
