Sheriff Principal Stephen to deliver Christmas lecture
"The Sheriff Court – The Future" is the subject chosen for this year's joint Annual Christmas Lecture, hosted by the Society of Solicitor Advocates, Society of Solicitors in the Supreme Courts of Scotland and the Scottish Young Lawyers' Association.
Speaker at the event, on Tuesday 2 December, will be Sheriff Principal Mhairi Stephen of Lothian & Borders, who will become President of the new Sheriff Appeal Court when that is set up under the Courts Reform (Scotland) Act 2014.
Past lectures in the series have been presented by the current Lord President, Lord Gill, and Lord Justice Clerk, Lord Carloway.
The lecture will take place in court 1, Court of Session, Parliament House, Edinburgh, from 6pm. Attendance at the lecture is free and may count for one CPD hour.
After the lecture, a supper will be served in the SSC Lounge in Parliament House, available at a charge of £15.
