Six partners among 40 promotions at Maclays
A record round of promotions has been announced by commercial law firm Maclay Murray & Spens, which has appointed six new partners among 40 solicitors who have been advanced in the firm, twice the number at this time last year.
The promotions involve staff at all four of the firm's offices and also include five new directors, 12 new associates and 17 solicitors moving up to senior level.
New partners are Derek McCombe (Glasgow, corporate), Gareth Hale (Edinburgh, commercial dispute resolution), Rona Hutchison (Glasgow, commercial dispute resolution), Allan Cairns (Edinburgh, property), Jo Campbell-Smith (Glasgow, property), and Barry Edgar (Glasgow, property).
Advanced to director are Sandra Hartley (Edinburgh, capital projects), Alan Delaney (Edinburgh, employment & pensions), Alison Weatherhead (Glasgow, employment & pensions), Helen Hutcheson (Glasgow, construction & engineering), and Kenneth McLaren (Glasgow, property).
Newly promoted associates are Claire McCarte (Glasgow, private client & charities), Anne-Marie Bradshaw (Edinburgh, corporate), Christopher Smith (Edinburgh, corporate), Steph Innes (Glasgow, IP & technology), Jon McKay (London, employment & pensions), Adam Watson (Aberdeen and Edinburgh, employment & pensions), Lyndsey Barr (London, property), Laura Edgar (Glasgow, property), Theresa Ferguson-Battershill (London, property – housing & care), Sheena Mackintosh (Glasgow, property), Lauren Miller (Glasgow, property), and Suzanne Sutherland (Edinburgh, property).

All the promotions take effect from 1 June 2015, the start of MMS's financial year.
