Sixty two welcomed to profession in latest admission ceremony
Sixty two new solicitors have been admitted to the profession at the Law Society of Scotland’s latest admission ceremony.
The event, at the Signet Library in Edinburgh, featured a guest address from Linda Urquhart OBE, chairman of Morton Fraser, who gave advice about "super skills for lawyers", including resilience and integrity.
Christine McLintock, President of the Society, told the new entrants that they should all be proud – "proud of your hard work, focus and determination over the past few years, proud of your world-class legal education and proud to wear the badge of Scottish solicitor – a badge that unites you all, regardless of where your career takes you".
She added: “You are the future of our profession and your hard-won qualification is highly respected by employers and lawyers all over the world.”
Chief executive Lorna Jack spoke about the services the Society offers for new lawyers and encouraged them to become involved with the Society's work – which takes many forms.
The event was attended by Michael Macmillan, former Council member of the Society and former convener of its Admissions Committee, to mark 50 years since his own admission in 1966 in one of the first ceremonies of this kind.
