SLCC consumer panel publishes response to review call for evidence
The SLCC Consumer Panel has published its response to the call for evidence from the independent review of legal regulation in Scotland.
Panel Chair, Carol Brennan, said: “We have greatly welcomed the opportunity to contribute to the debate on how legal services should be regulated in the future; as a Panel we have long considered that the current process, especially around complaint handling, requires reform.
“We believe that there is a need for stakeholders to put consumers at the heart of future developments. We hope that the review will result in a greatly improved system for consumer complaints which results in much faster processing and responses, and where redress is quickly obtained where services have fallen short of standards.
“We very much appreciated the opportunity to meet with members of the review panel at an early stage and we look forward to contributing actively to developing the proposals which the review panel will produce later this year.”
