"So you want to be...": SYLA announces two new events

25th September 2017

Two new events to help younger lawyers consider possible career paths have been announced by the Scottish Young Lawyers' Association.

“So you want to be an employment lawyer?” will take place on Wednesday 11 October in Aberdeen, while "So you want to be a corporate lawyer?" will be the following Tuesday, 17 October, in Edinburgh.

The employment event will be the first in SYLA's "Beyond the Basics" to be held in Aberdeen, and will feature speakers Veli-Matti Raikkonen, a University of Aberdeen law graduate who is now a senior associate at Ledingham Chalmers, and
Liam Kerr MSP, an accredited specialist in employment law and previously senior associate at CMS, before starting his own company and then being elected to the Scottish Parliament.

It takes place at the Society of Advocates Library, Concert Court, off Broad Street, Aberdeen AB10 1BS. Registration is from 6.15pm with the event running from 6.30-8pm, followed by networking, wine and nibbles, and counting as one hour of CPD. Click here to register.

Brodies LLP are hosts for the corporate lawyer event, at 6 for 6.15pm on Tuesday, 17 October at their office in Atholl Crescent, Edinburgh. Candice Donnelly from Virgin Money and Hilary Malone and Louise Mahon in the Brodies corporate team will discuss their career paths to date and their interest in the corporate sector. Delegates will then have an opportunity to ask questions and network over refreshments which will be provided.
