Society sounds out solicitors on EU referendum issues
Solicitors are being asked by the Law Society of Scotland for their views on matters related to the forthcoming referendum on whether Britain should remain a member of the European Union.
As with last year’s debate on Scottish independence, the Society will remain neutral on the issue of EU membership, but wants to play a full and active role in the debate. It plans to hold events and "ask searching questions" of both sides as the debate moves forward.
An online questionnaire asks members how the EU impacts them and their work as solicitors, what they think works well when it comes to Europe and what they would like to change.
It also aims to find out what impact, if any, the EU has on their business or organisation, and what would be the main positive and negative impacts for it of leaving the EU.
The survey, which should only take a few minutes to complete, will be open until 31 July. The information gathered will be used to help shape the Society's work over the coming months.
