Society's AGM agenda published

15th May 2015 | law society of scotland

The agenda for the Law Society of Scotland's annual general meeting on 28 May has been published.

Business for the meeting, which this year will be an evening one, beginning at 5.30pm, includes a motion to keep the practising certificate fee at the present level of £550, and a replacement practice rule covering ARTL mandates.

The revised rule is being put forward by the Society's Regulatory Committee to reflect the new regime under the Land Registration (Scotland) Act 2012 whch came into force last December.

A presentation will be given by the President, Alistair Morris, of a review of his term of office which ends the following day; and chief executive Lorna Jack will update members on the Society’s current operational plan, the review of its five year strategy for 2015-20, and the Society’s office move project.

Members will also be asked to approve the Society's annual report and accounts, which show a £116,000 surplus on a breakeven budget for the year, and the Guarantee Fund accounts, which also show a surplus.

The meeting takes place at the George Hotel, 19-21 George street, Ednburgh. Registration is available from 5pm. The full agenda and papers can be accessed by clicking here.
