Solicitor General becomes a QC
The recently confirmed Solicitor General for Scotland, Alison Di Rollo, has been appointed a Queen’s Counsel on the nomination of the Lord Advocate, James Wolffe QC.
Ms Di Rollo's appointment as Solicitor General, along with that of Mr Wolffe, was confirmed by the Scottish Parliament in June 2016, after First Minister Nicola Sturgeon named her new ministerial team. She joined the Crown Office & Procurator Fiscal Service in 1985, and worked in various procurator fiscal offices and Crown Office, before being appointed deputy head of the High Court Unit in Crown Office, and later head of operational policy.
After serving as a trial advocate depute and in the National Sexual Crimes Unit, she became head of the Unit in January 2013 and a senior advocate depute in January 2015.
Her appointment as Queen's Counsel was by the Queen on the recommendation of the First Minister.
