Solicitor joins listening body for child abuse victims
A former procurator fiscal and public sector legal adviser is one of three new appointments to the National Confidential Forum, the body set up to listen to and acknowledge people’s childhood experiences of institutional care in Scotland.
Moira Ramage will serve a two year term on the Forum until 31 July 2020, along with Dr Aileen Blower, a child and adolescent psychiatrist and family therapist, and Professor Kate Davidson, Honorary Professor of Clinical Psychology at the University of Glasgow.
Ms Ramage is a former district procurator fiscal with 20 years’ experience in the prosecution service, including significant exposure to victims of institutional abuse, and has also been a legal adviser to a number of regulatory bodies including the General Medical Council, General Dental Council, Nursing & Midwifery Council and General Teaching Council for Scotland. She is a former member of the Parole Board for Scotland.
The Forum will use the experiences it hears to form a historical record about how children experienced care in Scotland’s past, and make recommendations about how care for children and young people can be improved.
