Student law clinics meet this week for summer workshop
The annual summer workshop of the Scottish University Law Clinic Network (SULCN) takes place this week, hosted by Glasgow Caledonian University.
The event, on Wednesday 8 June, runs from 2-5pm with attendees having the choice of one of two workshops before an hour's general discussion.
In the workshops, Professor Donald Nicholson of Strathclyde University will lead a discussion on choices to make when designing clinics to maximise community impact, while Rob Marrs, senior policy and development manager at the Law Society of Scotland will host a workshop on "Street Law" public legal education.
Malcolm Combe, a lecturer at the University of Aberdeen who has been involved with SULCN since its inception in 2012, commented: “This workshop will allow people from across Scotland to share ideas and best practice in relation to student law clinics and pro bono legal work in general. It will build on previous events at UWS, Strathclyde, Edinburgh and Aberdeen, and will give a chance to showcase the great work students and other supporters are engaged with. Whilst it is aimed at students, others interested in pro bono activities would be very welcome to come along.”
The event is free but pre-registration is necessary, via this link.
