SYLA announces Criminal Day Conference

The Scottish Young Lawyers’ Association has announced details of its annual Criminal Day Conference, which this year will take place on Saturday 29 November.

Held in association with the Society of Solicitor Advocates and Fortis Chambers, the conference, in Edinburgh's Hilton Grosvenor Hotel, Grosvenor Street, features some leading criminal practitioners who will be speak on the development, and improvement, of court advocacy skills. John Keenan will discuss examination in chief, while Jim Stephenson and Gordon Martin will share their expertise on cross examination. John Scott QC will deliver a masterclass on court craft.

The afternoon session will see Alan Henderson, forensic scientist, update delegates on footwear impression evidence, while Colm Dempsey will deliver a session on special reasons and exceptional hardship proofs in road traffic cases. Iain Paterson will cover key tips for preparation for trials.

Chaired by Jim Keegan QC, the conference will close with a drinks reception.

Offering six hours' CPD, the conference will cost £60 (£45 for students). Click here for booking details.
