SYLA confirms annual conference programme

2nd June 2015

Full programme details have been announced for the Scottish Young Lawyers’ Association’s Annual Conference, "Progression in the Profession", which takes place on Monday 15 June with the theme "Towards 2020".

The conference, at the Grand Central Hotel, Glasgow, features sessions on business development, career progression, social media, financial fitness, personal branding and leadership. Speakers include consultant and Journal columnist Stephen Gold, Inksters Solicitors' founder Brian Inkster, Stephen Vallance of HM Connect, and business, career, financial and other experts.

Sponsored by Scott + Co, the conference offers six hours' CPD for the rate of £65 (£45 for students), and will be followed by SYLA's annual general meeting and committee elections, and a drinks reception to close.

Emma Boffey, SYLA President commented: “The committee has always been lucky to attract hard-working, innovative and dedicated young lawyers who volunteer to give something back to the profession. The work of the SYLA is varied. It needs people who are good at organising events, PR and media, design, advertising and IT and communications. We are also uniquely placed to address representation issues in the profession which affect young lawyers and if this interests you, then we would love to have to on board."

On the annual conference she added: "We are really looking forward to the conference this year – it is progressive and challenging in nature and all about young lawyers reflecting to ask themselves: where do I want to be in 2020, both professionally and personally? We are all looking forward to the day and engaging with a great line up of speakers from both the legal profession and the wider business community in Scotland.”
