SYLA elects Laura Meldrum as President

30th May 2016

The Scottish Young Lawyers' Association has elected Laura Meldrum as its next President, at its annual general meeting held last Thursday.

A solicitor with Anderson Strathern, Edinburgh, Ms Meldrum, succeeds Emma Boffey of CMS, who has served her two year term.

Also elected were Lucy Thornton (Digby Brown) as vice president, Laura Wylie (BLM) as secretary, Dominique McErlane (Brodies LLP) as treasurer, and committee members Jonathan Tait (Ennova Law), Jessica Weir (Gillespie Macandrew), Zara Clark (DAC Beachcroft), Evonne Morrison (Inksters), Joanne Baker (DWF), Holly Archibald (Adam & Co) and Ayla Iridag (Clyde & Co). Ms Boffey remains on the committee as past President.

Ms Meldrum commented: “I’m delighted to have been elected as President of the SYLA. Having been on the committee for three years in different capacities I feel well placed to lead the committee. I hope I can live up to the great job Emma has done over the past two years. My most sincere thanks on behalf of the committee go to Emma.

"I would also like to thank the outgoing committee members, Fiona McAllister (Burness Paull), Stephanie Connor (Hamilton Ross), Sean Dorian (DWF), Shaun Alexander (Clyde & Co), Ahsan Mustafa (RH & Co) and Jenny Anfield (Davidson Chalmers LLP), for their enthusiasm and hard work during their time on the committee and I wish them all the best for the future."
