SYLA kicks off new session with judges career event

10th August 2018

The Scottish Young Lawyers' Association is beginning its 2018-19 session with an event featuring careers on the bench.

Partnering with the Judicial Appointments Board for Scotland, the SYLA will present "So you want to be a judge?” on Wednesday 19 September 2018 at the Law Society of Scotland, Atria One, 144 Morrison Street, Edinburgh.

The evening's panel will comprise a sheriff, a summary sheriff and a tribunal president. Attendees will hear about how each has forged a career on the bench of a typical day (if there is one) in their role. They will share their experience and tips for those considering following in their footsteps.

Sheriff Mike O’Grady in his role as Judicial Appointments Board member will also address attendees on the role and work of the board.

The event will commence at 1745 for a 6pm sharp start and will be followed by a Q&A session (until 7.30).
