SYLA promotes two February events
The Scottish Young Lawyers' Association has posted details of two events taking place later this month.
On Saturday 23 February the Criminal Day Conference 2019 takes place at 200 SVS, 200 St Vincent Street, Glasgow. Now in its thirteenth year, the conference attracts some of Scotland’s finest criminal practitioners, both as speakers and guests.
Sponsored by the Scottish Criminal Bar Association, the conference is eligible for six hours' CPD. It runs from 9.30am-5pm with lunch and refreshments provided, and is followed by a drinks reception. Click here to register.
The following week, on Thursday 28 February, there is a further "So you want to be..." seminar, on the work of a judicial assistant to the UK Supreme Court. A team from the court will speak to members on life as a judicial assistant to the Justices. The court is currently recruiting temporary posts, assisting the Justices by carrying out research in connection with appeals and summarising applications for permission to appeal. The event is hosted by the Society of Solicitors of the Supreme Court in Scotland (SSC) in their lounge, access to which is via Parliament House, 11 Parliament Square, Edinburgh. The event begins at 6pm and refreshments will follow in the SSC Library. Click here to register.
