SYLA to hold further "Women in Law" event this month
The Scottish Young Lawyers’ Association's annual "Women in Law" discussion is one of two events this month in SYLA's educational programme for which details have been confirmed today.
"Women in Law" brings together a number of high profile and inspiring women from the Scottish legal community to share their personal experiences and speak on issues such as women’s rights in the UK and international context, women in the judiciary and boardroom, and whether the glass ceiling remains an issue for female lawyers in the 21st century. This year's event takes place from 6-8pm on Thursday 30 April, at the Roxburghe Hotel in Edinburgh, with a panel including Christine McLintock, incoming President of the Law Society of Scotland, Dorothy Bain QC, and Sara Jalicy of Anderson Strathern. Tickets are £5, with the proceeds donated to Scottish Women’s Aid.
Also this month, the latest in the "Spotlight on..." series will examine the growing crowdfunding sector in Scotland. Hosted by Harper Macleod LLP in Glasgow and chaired by Paula Skinner, partner there, it will explain how crowdfunding works and why it is matters when advising clients. There will also be speakers from some of the businesses who have already benefited from this funding method. The seminar takes place on Tuesday 21 April from 6-8pm.
