Three new partners for Weightmans' Glasgow office

26th July 2018 | careers

UK law firm Weightmans has further added to its Scottish base in Glasgow with the appointment of three new partners.

Claire Thornber, a solicitor advocate in the civil courts, joins the firm from Pinsent Masons, where she was senior associate in the litigation team; Nicola Gonnella, formerly legal manager at Hutchison 3G UK, will work with Weightmans’ national commercial team on technology matters, outsourcing, procurement and issues around GDPR; and corporate lawyer Claire McCracken joins from Lindsays.

The announcement comes as Weightmans marks five years in its Glasgow office. The firm said its team there had grown almost sevenfold in that time, including seven arrivals in recent months. Turnover in Scotland has increased by 300% over the last four years.

Partner and head of the Glasgow office, Elaine McIlroy, commented: "It’s an exciting time for Weightmans – we have achieved a great deal in the last five years and are enjoying a period of exceptional growth.

"All of our new recruits have brought specialist skills that have further strengthened our offering."
