Two legal directors head Turcan Connell promotion round

16th May 2019 | careers , practice management

Private client legal firm Turcan Connell has announced the appointment of its first two legal directors, along with the promotion of 17 other members of staff.

The new senior roles, filled by Jenny Younger and Kenneth Pinkerton, will have client-facing responsibility as well as leading on some key internally-focused matters.

Ms Younger works principally in the areas of trusts, asset protection and succession planning, with a particular emphasis on capital taxation and estate planning issues.

Mr Pinkerton specialises in the fields of charity law, tax and estate planning for private clients, trusts and executries, having extensive experience of charity law in advising charities both large and small.

The firm has also announced the following internal promotions: Heather Bruce, Paul Forrester Smith, Rona Macdonald, Mark McKeown and Neil Wilson, who become senior associates; Jennifer Macdonald and Debbie McIlwraith Cameron, promoted to associate; and Catherine Guthrie, Hannah Starritt, Amy Stevenson and Riikka Wilkinson, who are now senior solicitors.

Within the Tax Compliance team, Scott Webster is now a tax manager and Amy Barrows a senior tax assistant, and in Business Support, Faye Cooke becomes knowledge manager, Clare Hedges, HR consultant, Laura Gibb, assistant billing manager, and Holly Williamson, office services team leader.

Commenting on the new legal director positions, chairman Simon Mackintosh said: "We are very pleased to welcome Jenny Younger and Kenneth Pinkerton in their promotions to the newly created role of legal director. As legal directors they will have particular responsibility for our relationships with a number of clients, as well as a management role, and will apply their specialist professional skills widely across our tax and succession and charity teams."

Last month Turcan Connell announced its new managing partner, Gillian Crandles, and new partners Graeme Gass and Alistair Rushworth.
