Two more firms become "Investors in Young People"
Two more of Scotland's biggest legal practices have been accredited with the new Inverstors in Young People status.
Anderson Strathern and Shepherd & Wedderburn have both been awarded the status by organisers Investors in People, following closely on Ledingham Chalmers who earlier this month claimed the first law firm accreditation with the new standard.
The Investors in Young People award supports and develops employers working with young people and is said to help employers become an employer of choice for young people, through considering whether future business needs can be best served by the recruitment and retention of young people – those aged under 24 years, or under 28 if retained following training.
Both Anderson Strathern and Shepherd & Wedderburn already have Investors in People accreditation, and Anderson Strathern are claiming a unique double in having the IIP Gold Accreditation – the highest level available.
Murray McCall, Anderson Strathern's managing partner, said: “Our people are the heart of our business and it is tremendous to find that our commitment to their development is recognised both in the Gold Accreditation and now the new specialist accreditation for young people. We are completely committed to harnessing the enthusiasm young people bring to the business and to encouraging our young people to grow and reach their full potential with the firm.”
Carole Ritchie, HR director at Shepherd & Wedderburn, commented: “We are delighted to have received this accreditation as we see young people as immensely important to the future of our business. This award acknowledges our investment in developing their skills and helping them to develop in their chosen specialist areas, whether in legal or non-legal disciplines.”
