Two partners join Maclay Murray & Spens
Legal firm Maclay Murray & Spens has announced the appointment of two partners, one of whom is returning to the firm.
Aberdeen corporate lawyer Gordon Hobkirk has rejoined MMS from Bond Dickinson. He previously came to MMS in 2007 when it merged with Iain Smith & Co, in which he was also a partner, leaving in 2012. He has advised on numerous corporate deals in the north east over the past 20 years, especially in the oil and gas, renewables and food and drink sectors.
At the same time Edinburgh-based projects and infrastructure lawyer Andrew Orr has joined the firm. He has worked independently since leaving MacRoberts as a partner last June. With extensive experience across project finance, infrastructure, energy and PPP/NPD, his projects include Edinburgh Royal Infirmary and Edinburgh’s new Royal Hospital for Sick Children.
Kenneth Shand, chief executive of MMS, commented: “This is a great start to what looks set to be a busy year for MMS. Gordon and Andrew, two highly regarded, well connected and experienced professionals, will not only enable us to look after existing clients, but will broaden the reach of our corporate and capital projects practices.”
