Two partners lead promotions round at Gillespie Macandrew
Legal firm Gillespie Macandrew has made up two associates to partner at the head of a round of promotions involving five other solicitors who become senior solicitors.
Colin Hamilton (planning) and Isobell Reid (construction) become partners in the litigation team, effective from 1 April 2017.
Ms Reid joined the litigation team last year and is predominantly based in the firm’s Glasgow office. She specialises in construction (both contentious and non-contentious), planning, and contract and property disputes, although she maintains a broad commercial litigation practice.
Since joining the firm in 2008, Mr Hamilton has acted on a full spectrum of planning and environmental work, including real estate and commercial litigation. He became an associate in 2014.
Their promotions bring the total number of partners in the firm to 22.
The five promoted to senior solicitor are Susan Young (energy and strategic land), Lynne McElroy (land and rural business), Andrew Leslie (housebuilder), Ashley McCann (litigation) and Jennie Elliot (corporate).
Chief executive Chris West commented: “We are delighted to congratulate Colin and Isobell on their justly deserved promotions to partner and look forward to having their expertise as part of the wider partnership. Increasing the number of partners at the firm rounds off a positive year in a number of regards. It is particularly welcome to see our staff developing across all teams.
“We continue to believe that supporting our staff to progress their careers within Gillespie Macandrew is an important aspect of organic growth, and that our mix of internal promotions and experienced external hires creates the right mix of talent and experience in the leadership of the firm enabling us to drive even further success.”
