Two solicitors appointed to Scottish Civil Justice Council

Two solicitor members have been appointed to the Council and will take up their three-year posts on 16 October.
The new members are Jacqueline Harris, who has been re-appointed to the post, and Elena Fry, who is a new appointment.

Both were appointed by the Lord President following an open and competitive recruitment exercise, and in consultation with the Law Society of Scotland.
The Lord President, the Chair of the Council, Lord Carloway, said: “I am delighted that Jacqueline Harris is continuing with the Council and that Elena Fry will be joining us as a new member. Their combined experience and expertise in civil litigation are valuable assets to our on-going work at this important time of change as we continue to progress the extensive Rules Rewrite Project and examine the costs and funding of civil litigation.
“I would also like to thank Paul Reid, who is leaving the Council, for his helpful contribution to our work programme, and in particular, his contribution to the Access to Justice Committee.”

Biographies
Elena Fry
Elena is a partner in Brodies LLP and heads the firm’s Insurance and Risk team. She is accredited as a specialist in personal injury law by the Law Society of Scotland and has been helping a broad range of clients manage the defence of Scottish litigation for more than 20 years. Elena has a wealth of experience across the full spectrum of civil liability claims and conducts litigation in courts throughout Scotland.
Jacqueline Harris
Jacqueline is a partner in the Litigation and Compliance team of the commercial law firm Pinsent Masons which is one of the largest legal practices in Scotland. Jacqueline has more than 25 years’ experience of litigation practice acting predominantly for commercial clients. She has represented clients in litigation before the Sheriff Court, Court of Session and Supreme Court.
