Voting opens in Edinburgh by-election for Society's Council
Voting opens at noon today for the vacant seat in the Edinburgh constituency for the Law Society of Scotland's Council.
Three candidates are standing in the by-election: Andrew MacKenzie, Scottish Arbitration Centre; Lauren Miller, Morisons LLP; and Peter Tyson, Standard Life Employee Services Ltd.
E-voting will be available from noon on 10 September until noon on 24 September 2015. The Society will publish the result on its website.
Solicitors with a business address in Edinburgh can cast their votes through the electronic voting function on the Society’s website. Paper ballots can be obtained on request from the Society's registrar.
Statements from each of the candidates can be accessed via the Society's website.
Lorna Jack, chief executive of the Society, said: "It is really positive to see our members putting themselves forward to help their professional body to lead legal excellence. Council members represent the views of Scottish solicitors and help to shape the Council's policies and take decisions affecting the profession. The legal profession continues to go through a huge amount of change and I would encourage our members to take the opportunity to vote for their preferred candidates.”
