Abel Aboh

Advisor - AI Governance
Bank of England

Abel Aboh is currently an Advisor AI Governance at the Bank of England. He has nearly 20 years of diverse work experience across sectors such as finance, technology, engineering, airline, sport etc. His career spans roles in major organisations like Standard Life Aberdeen, EasyJet, HSBC, BAE Systems, London 2012 etc.

Abel is actively involved in governance and advisory roles, including positions on the board of The Data Lab Scotland’s Innovation Infrastructure, West Lothian College, a leading Scotland college and DataKirk, a social enterprise focused on bridging the data divide in Scotland with minority ethnic groups.

Abel is a member of the Nomination committee and Technology and Law Practice committee of the Law Society of Scotland.

He is also a member of the Big Data London steering group and several committees under the Law Society of Scotland.

Abel’s contributions to the data and AI sectors have earned him significant recognition, including being a finalist for the British Data Awards’ Data Leader of the Year 2021.

He has been inducted into the UK Data Hall of Fame for his outstanding contributions to the UK data management ecosystem.

Abel is passionate about data, technology, education and societal issues such as diversity, inclusion, social mobility and youth empowerment. He holds degrees in Human Resource Management from Strathclyde Business School and the University of Lincoln. In his personal life, Abel enjoys travel, music, documentary, podcasts, architecture, art, and sports like football and polo.
