Chris Lewis-Laverty
Chris is a Senior Legal Counsel in Sodexo’s inhouse legal team, having worked there for almost 5 years where he specialises in commercial contracts, public procurement and Private Financed Initiatives (PFIs)/Public Private Partnerships (PPPs) in high-value infrastructure projects.
Chris has a keen interest and specialism in Environmental Social Governance (ESG) and regularly advises Sodexo on current and upcoming ESG legislative and regulatory matters. He recently completed a Business Sustainability Management course with the University of Cambridge’s Institute for Sustainability Leadership, achieving a pass with distinction.
Outside of Sodexo, Chris is a Committee member of the Law Society of Scotland’s Inhouse Lawyer Committee where he represents inhouse lawyers across the Scottish legal profession and helps develop junior inhouse lawyers experiences and opportunities outside of private practice.
Prior to working inhouse at Sodexo, Chris worked in private practice in DLA Piper’s Project’s team and also completed his legal traineeship before that with DWF in Edinburgh.
Having studied Law with French language at the University of Glasgow, Chris’ experience ranges from Scots law to legal and policy matters from further afield, having worked in the Strasbourg seat of the European Parliament and White and Case’s international arbitration department in Paris whilst completing his law degree and Erasmus year studying at the University of Strasbourg. He also completed a pro bono secondment on the Greek island of Samos with international NGO: Avocats Sans Frontières, working in French and English to give legal advice to asylum seekers in preparing their immigration claims.
Outside of work, when Chris is not busy sun worshipping anywhere sunnier than Scotland, he’s also a keen cyclist and enjoys attending spin class in his free time.
