Diane Cairney

Partner
Miller Samuel Hill Brown

Diane is the Head of the Dispute Resolution/Litigation team and has over 30 years’ experience exclusively in this field. Diane has spent most of her career with the firm having joined the firm as a trainee in 1991 and had a short spell with Hill Brown solicitors before being assumed as a Partner in Miller Samuel LLP in 1999. She was the firm’s full time Managing Partner from 2005 – 2009.

She appears regularly in the Sheriff Courts and the Lands Tribunal Scotland and runs cases regularly in the Court of Session. She has experience of Supreme Court proceedings.

She has extensive experience of dealing with highly technical and complex cases including:

  • Construction disputes with property values exceeding several hundred million pounds
  • Interdict cases including “super-injunction” cases
  • Procurement challenges
  • Dilapidation claims
  • “Dawn raid” and breach of interdict cases
  • Company disputes including director and shareholder disputes
  • Complex professional debt recovery cases
  • Professional negligence
  • Breach of contract
  • Equestrian disputes
  • Clinical negligence & high value injury claims

She is a former council member of the Royal Faculty of Procurators, Glasgow and a former tutor in the post-graduate diploma at the University of Glasgow School of Law.
