Dr Diane Gutiw PhD
Dr. Diane Gutiw holds a PhD in Medical Information Technology Management where she conducted doctoral research on medical AI/expert system solution modeling and adoption as well as a certification in Medical AI from Harvard Medical School. Diane is the Vice President leading the Global AI Research Centre which provides thought leadership on AI best practices for CGI.
Diane Gutiw has over 35 years of experience as a Clinical Digital and Data Transformation Solution Expert, with a deep analytics and hands on AI experience in Health and Life Sciences. Diane has over 30 years experience in Public Health data modeling as well as hands on experience facilitating cross Health sector clinical and clinical operations stakeholders to develop common strategies and models for data sharing. Diane was involved in the initial design of the HL7 Lab Test Standards and designed the clinical integration of lab (SLRR) into the Saskatchewan HIAL as well as mapping Lab tests to PCLOCD and LOINC for Alberta Health Services. Diane also designed the Lab Result Repository for iPHIS and other Public Health Surveillance designs in Canada and the US. Diane also has experience with FHIR and CDA with DICOM data, specifically gaining hands on experience with Medical Imaging (RIS PACS) through implementing the solution in Saskatchewan and has been working with Machine Vision solutions for the implementation of AI into clinical workflows. Diane was responsible, as the lead for the cross-health sector collaboration, to drive data sharing on Azure for COVID reporting and the vaccine rollout in British Columbia as well as integrating the COVID incidences with vaccine coverage to help drive policy. Diane has experience in delivering solutions and organizational change leveraging DAMA, TOGAF, DevOps, Agile, and Prosci methodologies. Diane also has experience with developing financial and policy accountability models related to public sector client evaluations and advisory services.
Diane has acted as a visiting lecturer at Simon Fraser University since 2018 as well as being an advisory member of the University of British Columbia (UBC) Medical School, Data Analytics and Science in Health (DASH) program. More recently Diane has been engaged in lecturing at Cambridge University, school of evidence-based policing on social care initiatives. She has a PhD in Information Technology Management with doctoral research on Medical Expert System (AI) Adoption with Doctoral research in Emergency Medical Services and first responder care and triage. Diane has also completed certifications in Health sector digital transformation and medical artificial intelligence from Harvard Medical School. Diane is an experienced facilitator with an expertise in driving disparate stakeholders towards a consensus based on common objections and common future vision.
