Euan Pirie

Partner
Harper Macleod LLP

Euan Pirie is a partner and head of Major Projects and Infrastructure at Harper Macleod, a key part of the firm’s Construction & Engineering Group.

Euan is one of Scotland’s most experienced construction, engineering and infrastructure lawyers. He is a Law Society of Scotland Accredited Specialist in Construction Law, a Top Ranked Lawyer for Infrastructure (Chambers UK) a Leading Partner for Projects (Legal 500) and Recommended Lawyer for Construction, Social Housing, Local Government, and Transport (Legal 500).

Euan has successfully advised both public and private sector clients on complex and high value construction, engineering and infrastructure projects for more than 25 years.

Euan’s recent track record includes multiple significant energy efficiency/net zero led projects. This includes advising on successful conclusion of construction contracts for 5 separate schools projects procured as part of the Scottish Government’s Learning Estate Investment Programme over the past 3 years, with a combined construction value of over £300m and where the structures are built to PassivHaus or equivalent high energy efficiency standards. Euan is currently advising on the North Schools Programme, where a further 5 highly energy efficient schools will be constructed for 4 different local authorities, with an estimate construction cost of £430m.

Euan also has significant experience in advising on construction contracts for retrofit projects, in both the affordable homes and education sectors. Euan has developed a suite of amendments to standard form construction contracts, intended to link issue of key certificates under those contracts to parallel processes that apply where application is made for certification under the PassiHaus and EnerPhit regimes.
