Gillian Carmichael Lemaire
Gillian Carmichael Lemaire is a bilingual (English/French) international mediator, mediation counsel and arbitrator based in London. She has extensive experience of common and civil law systems as a member of the Paris Bar and as a solicitor (Scotland). Gillian has been immersed in disputes work throughout her career, including positions as partner in international law firms in Paris. Her background is predominantly in international arbitration and mediation, but also other ADR processes and litigation. In 2014 Gillian founded her own firm, Carmichael Lemaire Ltd.
Gillian handles a wide range of international disputes worldwide in the environmental, construction, property, infrastructure, energy, transport, manufacturing, distribution and general commercial sectors, with particular experience in disputes arising out of projects involving States/State-owned entities and private parties.
In addition to her disputes work, Gillian has strong transactional experience of a broad range of international contracts, gained both in private practice and during a long-term secondment to an environmental services corporation, where she worked on environmental projects in the waste, water, transport and energy sectors.
Gillian is a Director of the Scottish Arbitration Centre, a member of the Advisory Council to the Board of ArbitralWomen and teaches international arbitration as a visiting lecturer at the University of Aberdeen. She is the Immediate Past Vice Chair of the London Branch of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.

Professional qualifications: Member of the Paris Bar; Solicitor (Scotland); Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators; Accredited Mediator registered with the Civil Mediation Council (England & Wales) and Scottish Mediation; Certified Specialist in Cyber Security (Law Society of Scotland); Law of Treaties (UN).
