Grant Hassan
Grant is an Accredited Family Law Specialist with the Law Society of Scotland. He has extensive experience in dealing with high conflict cases across all areas of family law both in the context of litigation and outwith Court. He has a particular interest in cases involving the financial aspects of a separation or divorce. The cases he is involved in can often involve business interests, investment portfolios, pension interests or property interests.
Grant is a trained Collaborative Lawyer with Consensus Collaborative Scotland. As a firm believer in the benefits of Collaborative Practice as an alternative form of dispute resolution, Grant also sits on the National Committee of Consensus Scotland, who are responsible for further promotion and development Collaborative Law in Scotland. Since 2023, he is also acting Secretary for Consensus Collaboration Scotland.
Grant was shortlisted for the ‘Rising Star of the Year’ award at the Scottish Legal Awards in 2018 in recognition of his hard work and dedication to clients and area of practice. He is a member of the Family Law Association and more locally, he had involvement with the operation of the Children’s Contact Centre in Inverness with Family Mediation Highland. He regularly writes articles and provides seminars on various family law topics.
He regularly advises on separation agreements, cohabitation disputes & cohabitation agreements, pre & post nuptial agreements, parental rights and responsibilities, residence, contact, adoption and domestic abuse cases. Where appropriate, he works alongside outside professionals such as accountants, financial advisers, and psychologists to ensure his clients gain the necessary input to make fully informed decisions. He sees the benefit to his clients in working collaboratively where appropriate to achieve the best outcomes.
Grant is primarily based in Inverness; however, he assists clients located across the north of Scotland. He also regularly operates from Harper Macleod’s Elgin, Thurso and Lerwick offices.
