Hermione Hague
I am a technology and privacy lawyer and have experience in legal technology going back to 2009 when I was project manager at McGrigors (now Pinsent Masons) involved in the successful implementation of its CRM system.
I run the Technology Innovation and Legal Practice elective and the IP Law in Business elective on the Diploma in Professional Legal Practice at the University of Edinburgh. I developed a AI simulation client interviewing app for law students, ClientConnectEd which was recently recognised by the LexisNexis University Commercial Awareness Award.
I am keenly interested in AI, its regulation and its impact, in particular having sufficient governance and guardrails in place. I run the IP and AI module for the Executive Education AI for Leaders course with the University of Edinburgh Business School and provided IP consultancy support to the BRAID Writing the Wrongs of AI project in 2024. I am a member of the Law Society of Scotland’s LawScotTech Advisory Board.
I have worked in the tech sector since 1999 when I was in-house legal counsel for boo.com, Turner Broadcasting (working on early digital television platforms) and setting up the mobile phone network, 3. I provide legal consultancy services via Pinsent Masons Vario and AndCo Law, particularly in privacy and technology matters.
