Jim Haywood

Managing Director
Woodman Farrow Ltd.

Jim is an independent sustainability consultant and Managing Director of his own business Woodman Farrow Ltd.

Working in support of Achill Management, his clients have included the Legal Sustainability Alliance and individual member firms, the Bar Council of England and Wales and a ‘buy and build” investment company. He has extensive experience in working with key stakeholders in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors where he has held a variety of senior executive roles.

Before setting up his own consultancy in 2011, Jim developed and led the environment campaigns of Business in the Community (BITC), supporting a wide range of multi-national corporates at Board level in their own sustainability programmes (including companies such as IBM, BT, EDF Energy, Unilever, Lloyds Banking Group, Alliance Boots, M&S, United Utilities) as well as engaging a wider group of businesses to encourage environmentally sustainable best practice. At BITC, Jim established HRH The Prince of Wales’s Mayday Network, providing support and encouragement to nearly 4000 businesses of all sizes in addressing the urgent issue of resource depletion and climate change.

Jim is a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. He is an expert panel member of the Global Social Equivalence Programme (now part of the Consumer Goods Forum), former Chair of Carbon Trust Assurance Ltd’s Impartiality Committee, member of The Royal Warrants of Appointment Environmental and Social Review Committee and is a trained Total Quality Management facilitator and experienced coach. Jim’s career started as a submarine engineering officer in the Royal Navy with experience of both nuclear and diesel-electric submarines, as well as shore-based engineering and logistic support roles.

Jim’s interests include model making and art, playing and making music, gardening and birdwatching – passions he is looking forward to sharing with his three grandchildren!
