Karen Cornwell

Jackson Boyd LLP

Karen qualified in Scotland in 1999 (having obtained a Distinction from the University of Glasgow) and in England and Wales in 2010.

She is a Notary Public. Karen’s background has almost exclusively been in civil and commercial litigation including (but not limited to) contract disputes, property litigation, professional negligence e.g. against solicitors, surveyors, architects, accountants, engineers etc. and banking litigation - in the Sheriff Courts, Court of Session and UK Supreme Court.

Karen is both pragmatic and commercial in her approach to disputes and professional negligence claims. She is an Accredited Specialist in Professional Negligence Law by the Law Society of Scotland having initially been accredited in 2014.

Karen also acts as the Scottish representative of the Professional Negligence Lawyers Association. This is a voluntary role and involves organising the speakers and chairing the annual Scottish conference in Edinburgh. Whilst now based primarily in Fife and Tayside, Karen retains strong ties to both Glasgow, Edinburgh and beyond.

Outside of the office, Karen embraces outdoor sports and regularly enjoys mono-skiing, snow skiing, running, hill walking and horse riding. She is also a keen wild swimmer in the North Sea and wetsuit free. Karen is a Committee Member and Covid-19 officer of Loch Lomond Water-ski Club and Company Director of Water-ski and Wakeboard Scotland.
